Choosing auspicious and travel dates by birth year and purpose

Choosing a good date by birth year takes two steps: pick the days the almanac lists as favourable for the very task you plan — a wedding, an opening, moving house, groundbreaking, travel — then drop the days that clash with the birth year of the person leading it. For a travel date, that means a day with travel (xuất hành) among the favoured activities, not among the ones to avoid, and not clashing with your birth year; further down is an example for the first twelve days of the Dinh Mui year 2027, computed by Inti Soul's almanac engine. Travel dates by birth year: the Lunar New Year 2027 example

The Dinh Mui year begins at Tết on 6 February 2027. Inti Soul's almanac engine reads the first twelve days of the year, from day 1 to day 12, and looks for travel (xuất hành) among each day's favoured and unfavoured activities. Four days list travel as favoured:

Day 1 (Saturday 06/02/2027): a Bính Thìn day, auspicious; clashes with Dog years (Tuất), most directly Canh Tuất.
Day 3 (Monday 08/02/2027): a Mậu Ngọ day, inauspicious; clashes with Rat years (Tý), most directly Nhâm Tý.
Day 9 (Sunday 14/02/2027): a Giáp Tý day, auspicious; clashes with Horse years (Ngọ), most directly Mậu Ngọ.
Day 12 (Wednesday 17/02/2027): an Đinh Mão day, inauspicious; clashes with Rooster years (Dậu), most directly Tân Dậu.
Day 10 (15/02/2027) and day 11 (16/02/2027) list travel among the things to avoid; the other days do not mention travel at all.

Filtering by birth year: drop clashing days, then prefer auspicious ones

A day with a given earthly branch clashes with the birth years of the opposite branch; the birth year here is the branch of your lunar birth year, so anyone born in January or February should check whether they were born after Tết. Among the four days above, the engine ranks day 1 and day 9 first because they are auspicious days. Someone born in 1990 (Canh Ngọ) drops day 9, because the Giáp Tý day clashes with Horse years, and keeps day 1; someone born in 1994 (Giáp Tuất) does the opposite: drops day 1 and picks day 9.

Travelling as a family: take the birth year of the person leading the trip as the base; many families also check those travelling along.
Inti Soul's date engine works by the day; the travel hour and direction (Hỷ Thần, Tài Thần) differ from almanac to almanac, and the engine does not use them to rank days.

Safety first, a good date second

Date selection is a cultural custom and a reflection tool, not a guarantee of results; a day that lists travel is only one layer of reference. Change the hour or the day when there is a weather warning, you are unwell, the vehicle is not safe or papers are missing; do not postpone an urgent trip or health care just because of a bad-day label.

Weddings and engagements

People usually pick an auspicious day that lists weddings among its favoured activities and does not clash with the bride's or groom's birth year. Both families should first agree on a realistic window — health, venue, paperwork, budget — and then choose a day within it; a beautiful date cannot replace the couple's agreement.

Openings, new shops, contracts and loans

People often look for days that favour opening, trading or signing and avoid days that clash with the owner's birth year. For contracts and loans, the terms, the legal side and the ability to repay matter more than the signing date — do not delay something urgent just because you have not found a date you like.

Moving house, buying a home, groundbreaking

Home matters usually look for a day that suits the head of the household and favours moving in or breaking ground; many families also consider the house direction. Check the legal side, the contract and construction safety first — a good date only adds peace of mind to the preparation.

How do you choose a travel date by birth year?

Pick days with travel (xuất hành) among the favoured activities and not among those to avoid, then drop the days that clash with the branch of your birth year, using the six pairs Tý – Ngọ, Sửu – Mùi, Dần – Thân, Mão – Dậu, Thìn – Tuất, Tỵ – Hợi. If several days remain, prefer the auspicious ones.

What if there are no favorable dates in the month?

It is rare for no date to be usable. If the matter is urgent, prioritize preparation and practical timing instead of waiting for a perfect date.

Does date selection use the lunar or solar calendar?

The almanac works with the lunar calendar and the stems and branches; in the reading, every day still shows its Gregorian date so you can plan in practice.

Is a date favorable for me also favorable for my family?

Not necessarily. For shared events such as weddings or moving in, use the principal person's birth year as the basis.
