Numerology birth-date chart — build it and read the 8 arrows
The birth-date chart in numerology is a 3×3 grid holding every digit of your birth day, month and year (every 0 dropped), placed in fixed positions: 3-6-9 on the top row, 2-5-8 in the middle, 1-4-7 at the bottom. When a row, column or diagonal holds all three of its digits, you have a full “arrow” — such as Planning 1-2-3, Will 4-5-6 or Determination 1-5-9; when all three are missing, it is an empty arrow. The tool below builds the chart from your birth date with exactly the calculation of Inti Soul's numerology engine, free and with no account; the rest of the page explains how to read the eight arrows and what the chart cannot tell you.
Only your birth date — no name, birth time or account; nothing is stored. For adults aged 18+. For Expression, Soul Urge and Personality from your name: numerology by name and birth date.
Birth date only
Every digit of the birth day, month and year, every 0 dropped, placed on a 3×3 grid.
Eight arrows
Three rows, three columns, two diagonals; all three digits make it full, none make it empty.
A prompt, not a label
An arrow shows which qualities stand out or are quiet; it does not define you.
How to build the birth-date chart
Write your solar birth date as a string of digits, drop every 0, then place each digit in its cell on the grid: 1, 2, 3 in the left column from the bottom up, 4, 5, 6 in the middle column, 7, 8, 9 in the right column. A digit that appears several times is written that many times in its cell. Two examples calculated by Inti Soul's engine:
- 15/05/1990 — the digits 1, 5, 5, 1, 9, 9: the digits 1, 5 and 9 appear twice each. The 1-5-9 diagonal holds all three digits, so there is an arrow of Determination; no arrow is empty.
- 29/11/1987 — 1 three times, 9 twice, and 2, 7, 8 once each. The 7-8-9 column is full, giving an arrow of Action; the 4-5-6 column has none of its three digits, so the arrow of Will is empty.
The chart's eight arrows
Inti Soul's engine looks at exactly eight lines of the grid and names each by its theme. A full arrow is usually read as that quality showing clearly; an empty arrow is usually read as an area to practise.
- 1-2-3 Planning (left column): the ability to organise and plan. Never empty for anyone born from 1900 to 2999, because the birth year always contains a 1 or a 2.
- 4-5-6 Will (middle column): stamina, sticking with what you chose. This is the most common empty arrow.
- 7-8-9 Action (right column): the energy to get going. Can only be empty for people born from 2000, because a 19xx year always contains a 9.
- 1-4-7 Practicality (bottom row): practicality, skill with concrete tasks. Can only be empty for people born from 2000.
- 2-5-8 Emotional balance (middle row): the ability to keep feelings steady. Can only be empty for people born before 2000, because a 20xx year always contains a 2.
- 3-6-9 Intellect (top row): memory and judgement. Can only be empty for people born from 2000.
- 1-5-9 Determination (diagonal): steadiness towards a goal. Can only be empty for people born from 2000.
- 3-5-7 Spiritual sensitivity (diagonal): sensitivity to inner life. Can be empty in any generation.
Which empty arrow is most common?
Counted over every calendar date from 1900 to 2008, the most common empty arrow is 4-5-6 Will, on about 27% of dates; next comes 3-5-7 Spiritual sensitivity, about 25%. Because the birth year supplies four of the eight digits, people born before and after 2000 have quite different empty arrows — keep that in mind when comparing your chart with someone of another generation.
Repeated digits and missing digits
A digit that appears several times is usually read as that number's quality being emphasised, sometimes to excess; a missing digit is read as a quiet area, not a fixed weakness. The birth-date chart has no place for the digit 0, so people born in 2000 often have a very sparse chart — which does not mean they lack anything.
How the birth-date chart differs from the Life Path number
Both come from the birth date but do different jobs. The Life Path number adds and reduces the digits into one number; the birth-date chart keeps every digit and looks at where each one sits on the grid. The tool on this page gives both. Inti Soul builds the chart from the birth date only; your name is used for other numbers such as Expression, Soul Urge and Personality on the numerology lookup page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the numerology birth-date chart?
It is a 3×3 grid holding the digits of your birth date (every 0 dropped) in fixed positions; rows, columns and diagonals with all or none of their three digits form eight arrows that show strong qualities and areas to practise.
Is an empty arrow bad?
No. An empty arrow only points to a quality that is less emphasised; many empty arrows come from the birth years of a whole generation, not from anything personal.
Why is my 1-2-3 arrow never empty?
Because anyone born from 1900 to 2999 always has a 1 or a 2 in the birth year, so the 1-2-3 column can never lack all three digits.
Can the chart be built from my name?
Inti Soul builds the chart from the birth date only. Your name is used for Expression, Soul Urge and Personality on the numerology lookup page.
